It seems like there’s always a forest fire ranging out of control somewhere in the world these days, whether it is in British Columbia in Canada or in NSW, Australia. If it’s not a forest fire that is making the news, it’s another natural disaster, such as a hurricane, a tsunami or disastrous flooding. For whatever reason, these natural disasters seem to be occurring more frequently and to be more extreme. One thing the natural disasters have in common is a need for communications, for the teams to communicate with each other in the area where they are located.
When a temporary camp is established help with a natural disaster, one of the most important requirements the Emergency Response Team has is communications on the ground. A makeshift camp has very similar communications requirements as a more permanent camp, such as those that are built for oil rigs and mining. Standard communications networks such as the PSTN or mobile / cellular networks are usually not an option in a remote area so another method has to be used. The connection to the outside world can be via satellite but for the people on the ground, another terrestrial mode of communications is required.
Teletics specializes in industrial quality, rugged wireless telecommunications solutions that are designed to be used in extremely difficult conditions and to be set up quickly by almost anyone, with no special tools or training or programming. Our products are installed in hundreds of camps, providing communications on the ground to oil & gas and mining camps all around the world.
